5 Weeks Old!

YOUR BABY is 5 WEEKS OLD :how they grow

Your baby’s neck muscles are developing: He may be able to hold up her head when she’s in the baby carrier now.

At this age, babies stay awake for longer during the day - as long as 10 hours - and their increased alertness may lead to overstimulation, which partly explains those crying jags.

At some point over the next few weeks, infants' smiles become more social; your baby is smiling at you!

Your baby is learning that he has hands and fingers and feet and toes. He's also starting to talk more. Not with words, of course, but by cooing — with increasing goos, gurgles, and grunts. This marks the beginning of hhis language development. Talk to your baby often. You'll be able to keep his attention by shifting from a low to a high pitch.

He did well being babysat for the first time on friday! Mommy was proud that he was good for his great grandma Manetta! woohoo. He is developing more neck muscles because we notice he leaves his head up longer and longer. Its very cool to see him progress. He giggled in his sleep so loud like an uncontrollable baby laugh that you usually see on u-tube or something. it was so cute. Also tonight we gave him his first bath! He was soo funny. Out of a 3 minute bath, he was very calm in the first minute then he farted so loud that with the water touching his butt it scared him so much he started to cry for the rest of the bath. it was so hilarious. Oh and he peed in the bath too. very funny.
