A baby who has discovered cruising will "walk" around a room while supporting himself with furniture and other surfaces. To encourage walking, hold your baby's hands when he's standing facing you and see whether he can step toward you. Some 9-month-olds are ready to practice walking with a stable push toy. One prop not to use is a walker, as they are associated with serious injuries and can impede normal development, according to the American Academy of Pediatrics.
Carter is pulling himself up & getting back down from standing position like a pro now. He will probably be walking by christmas. Thats my guess anyway. He's very smart about things. Some things he already knows or understands are: cat & meow sound, dog & rough, cow & moo, duck. & quack, when you say ceiling fan he looks up where they are in our house, oh and he loves "bath" all of these words or sounds he smiles too when we say them. Its very cool to see him learn & understand things. Oh he also understands the word no! He stops whatever it is he's doing & backs away from it. We like that lol!
